Victorian Plumbing, the UK’s largest and most recognisable bathroom retailer, approached SHENNY to help communicate a key message: they offer far more than just bathroom tiles.
Known for their unbeatable value and quality, this Merseyside based online retailer has built a reputation for stylish, well-designed bathrooms and accessories, both branded and in-house.
As the motion design studio, our challenge was to craft a suite of engaging, animated digital ads that felt unmistakably on-brand while also standing out across platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.
SHENNY handled the full animation production process from start to finish, collaborating closely with Victorian Plumbing’s in-house marketing team.
We led the scripting phase, refining the message they brought to us, and developed two voiceover variants per ad: one ‘Range’ version to highlight the beauty of their tiles, and one ‘Availability’ version to emphasise the ease of getting them delivered.
We also managed voiceover casting and recording, and took the reins on storyboarding, animation, music selection, sound design, and final mix, working closely with the Victorian Plumbing marketing team throughout the journey, welcoming their feedback and ideas.
We created three core ad concepts and adapted them into 6”, 15” and 20” edits, formatted in 16:9, 9:16, and 1:1 to suit different social media environments.
Visually, the campaign leaned into a clean 2D design language that made the most of Victorian Plumbing’s high-resolution tile photography.
We integrated their signature brand colours and iconic sonic jingle to ensure the videos were instantly recognisable and cohesive across all content.
The final result was a playful, polished campaign that helped Victorian Plumbing show they offer tiles not just for bathrooms, but for every room in the home, all while reinforcing the brand’s trusted, quality first identity.

Behind the Scenes: How SHENNY made the Social Media Marketing Videos
Once the core concept and direction were locked in, SHENNY moved into full animated video production mode, refining the messaging and building out the campaign’s motion design visuals step by step.
Script Development
The first step in the motion design process is writing and finalising the script. We began by ensuring each variant of the videos clearly delivered its purpose: one version focused on the wide range of beautiful tiles, the other on the ease and availability of getting them delivered.
As these were voiceover led video ads, we had to be crystal clear and concise, not just in tone, but in word count. Each script had to land comfortably within its allocated duration: 6 seconds, 15 seconds, and 20 seconds.
Voiceover Selection and Recording
Next came voiceover casting. We presented a range of voice options that balanced approachability with clarity, aiming for a tone that felt casual, informative, and genuinely engaging.
Victorian Plumbing was keen to avoid anything overly polished or corporate, leaning instead toward a warm, regional Midlands accent that felt friendly and real.
Once the final voice talent was selected, we directed the recording sessions to ensure each line hit just right.
Styleframes
Before moving into the storyboarding stage, we developed and presented three distinct styleframes. These early visual explorations help to establish the look and feel of the campaign.
The client selected one direction, which we then expanded into the full storyboard, defining the visual tone that carried through the entire video project.



Storyboards
After the style direction was confirmed and signed off, we built out full visual storyboards, one of the most important stages in the animated video production process.
Storyboards act as a blueprint for the animation, showing how each scene is structured, how transitions will flow, and when key messages or product shots appear on screen.
They help align everyone early on, ensuring that timing, tone, and messaging work across all video formats before a single frame is animated.
Using the high-resolution product photography provided by Victorian Plumbing, we designed each frame in a clean, 2D motion style that highlighted the texture and detail of the tiles.
For a multi-format video campaign like this, the storyboards also allowed us to plan how the same idea would adapt seamlessly across 16:9, 9:16, and 1:1, making sure the motion design videos remained clear and engaging, no matter where they were viewed.




Animation and Motion Design Production
Once the script, style, and storyboard were finalised, we moved into animation and formatting, where all the magic really happens.
Each animated video ad was built and adapted into 16:9 for YouTube, 9:16 for TikTok and Instagram Stories, and 1:1 for Instagram and Facebook grid posts, ensuring every version felt native to its platform.
Throughout the animated video production process, we stayed closely aligned with Victorian Plumbing’s brand colours and guidelines.
We first built a single master version of the ads to make sure the motion felt right, especially in the opening sequence, with all the bouncing and sliding tiles bringing energy to the screen.
Once the Victorian Plumbing marketing team were happy with the initial motion, we went ahead and finished creating all the animated videos.

Music, Sound Design, Mix and Sign Off
The final stage of the process was sound, that last layer that adds a touch of polish and professionalism.
We presented several music options to Victorian Plumbing that we felt aligned with their brand, and once a track was chosen, we adapted and mixed it to suit each video length.
In addition to selecting the right music, we ensured the brand’s iconic sonic jingle was meaningfully integrated into every video ad. It became a recognisable anchor point across all edits, helping reinforce the brand’s identity.
To complete the process, we added a crisp layer of sound design to enhance key transitions and add rhythm to each animated video ad. After a final mix and review, the project was signed off and delivered. 🎉
